Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories seeks an engineer with a strong background in control theory, estimation, sensor fusion, and navigation technologies to advance real-time NPC systems. The role emphasizes applying estimation theory and Monte Carlo methods to embedded navigation and control challenges.

The engineer will develop novel estimation algorithms, validate them with flight data, and collaborate across Sandia's 5322 Pathfinder Navigation, Pointing, and Control (NPC) Department to deliver

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.
  • Experience with Kalman filters and sensor fusion.
  • Strong technical communication and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develop navigation and estimation algorithms for real-time embedded flight software.
  • Assess the performance of inertial navigation systems across multiple vehicle platforms.
  • Integrate sensor models and upgrade flight software with modern software practices.
  • Develop and verify control algorithms and ensure they meet required performance.
  • Document algorithms and analyses through reports and presentations.
