Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an Early Career Mechanical Field Engineer for its Lynchburg, VA operations. The role combines design work with hands-on field experience in a highly regulated industrial environment and offers a structured rotational program.

You will travel to customer sites, rotate across teams, support inspection equipment operation and maintenance, create CAD models, assist refurbishment, and learn from senior engineers on technical projects, inspections, and training programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 0-3 years of engineering experience, including internships, co-ops, or academic projects.
• Experience with CAD modeling through coursework, internships, projects, or professional experience.
• Strong desire to learn and develop technical expertise.
• Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites as needed.
• Comfortable working in both office and industrial field environments.
• Interest in hands-on engineering, mechanical systems, and equipment-focused work.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer and project sites to support engineering and operational activities.
• Rotate through multiple technical teams to gain broad exposure to field inspections, plant operations, and engineering processes.
• Support the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of specialized inspection equipment.
• Create CAD models and engineering designs for plant equipment, fixtures, specialty covers, and mechanical components.
• Assist with equipment refurbishment and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work alongside experienced engineers and technicians on technical projects and inspections.
• Participate in technical training programs and inspection-related activities.
• Develop into an engineering representative role providing technical oversight and support during field operations.
