Job summary

Insight Global seeks an early‑career Mechanical Design & Field Engineer to support equipment design, inspection activities, refurbishment projects, and technical training initiatives in a highly regulated industrial environment.

This role combines engineering design with hands‑on field work. You will rotate through multiple teams in year one to gain exposure to inspection processes, equipment applications, and customer environments, laying groundwork for career advancement.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required.
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience including academic projects is preferred.
  • CAD modeling skills demonstrated through coursework, internships, projects, or professional experience are valued.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and develop technical expertise is required.
  • Ability to travel to customer and project sites as needed.
  • Ability to work in both office and field environments.
  • Interest in hands-on technical work and equipment-based engineering activities.
  • Comfortable working in a regulated industrial environment.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer sites to support project execution and collaborate with operations personnel.
  • Rotate through multiple crews to gain hands-on experience with inspection technologies and plant operations.
  • Support field inspections, maintenance activities, and operation of remote inspection equipment.
  • Design and support plant equipment, components, fixtures, and specialty covers using CAD software.
  • Assist with equipment refurbishment, troubleshooting, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with technical training, eddy current, SSI, closure, and other inspection-related activities.
  • Progress into engineering representative responsibilities, providing technical oversight of field activities.
