Early-Career Geotechnical Engineer

Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early-Career Geotechnical Engineer who may work in our Acton, MA or Kennesaw, GA office. The position offers the chance to apply academic knowledge to real-world projects involving site characterization, landfill design, earth retaining structures, foundations, dams, forensic investigations, instrumentation, numerical analysis, and geohazard mitigation, while developing business skills for a consulting career.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Numerical analysis of foundations and support systems using finite element methods (Plaxis, FLAC, etc.)
  • Conducting geotechnical field investigations
  • Monitoring heavy civil construction projects
  • Fieldwork for design and construction services
  • Performing engineering calculations for slope stability, settlement, foundation capacity, ground improvement, and earth pressures
  • Designing foundations such as pile caps, mats, and footings
  • Evaluating liquefaction potential
  • Managing instrumentation monitoring systems
  • Data analysis and report preparation
  • Developing construction documents and technical reports
Education and Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree in civil/environmental engineering, geology, or related field (required)
  • Advanced degree preferred
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
  • Prior internship or related consulting experience preferred
  • Experience with geotechnical software (AutoCAD, Slope/W, PLAXIS) preferred
  • Willingness for regular fieldwork and overnight travel (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and background checks (required)
  • Valid U.S. driver's license with good driving record (required)
