Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking an Early Career R&D Agentic AI Systems Engineer to design and deploy agentic AI tooling on site in New Mexico. You will work with a cross-functional team to develop lifecycle processes, evaluation frameworks, and scalable pipelines for AI agents that support national security missions.

Key requirements include a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, and the ability to obtain DOE Q and SCI clearances.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field or demonstrated equivalent experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q and SCI clearance.
• Experience with AI systems, agentic architectures, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize agent and multi-agent AI tooling and workflows to meet goals and metrics.
• Define the development lifecycle for agentic systems including requirements, architecture, testing, and deployment.
• Collaborate with researchers across disciplines to evaluate reliability, safety, and national security impact.
• Build automated evaluation and regression pipelines for prompts, tools, models, and agent behaviors.
• Deploy agent capabilities across laboratory and customer implementations and scale operations.
