Eaglecrest Ski Area is seeking a Snowcat Operator for the 2026/2027 winter season. The role involves joining a small grooming crew and operating a snowcat to prepare slopes nightly, with emphasis on safety and teamwork.
A valid driver's license is required; prior snowcat experience is preferred. You’ll work in a crew of 2–3, often in fresh snow, and may face long hours, weekends, and adverse weather. Perks include free ski rentals and a season pass.
Eaglecrest Ski Area is looking to hire a snowcat operator to complete the 2026/2027 winter season.
We are looking for an experienced skier or snowboarder ideally with previous snowcat or heavy machinery operating experience join our grooming team. The ideal candidate will be able to take direction from the lead groomer and work as a team player to shape the slopes to provide the best possible riding experience for our diverse client base.
You will be working as a part of a small two-to-three-person crew to groom the mountain on a nightly basis. Eaglecrest has a very passionate culture of skiers and snowboarders that will greatly appreciate your attention to detail and will share their praise with you for your efforts. You will often be grooming in fresh snow and driving a blizzard like conditions as Eaglecrest can be known to receive fresh snow daily for 50 days in a row. You will receive free ski or snowboard rentals, free group lessons when available, discounts in the retail shop, repair shop and the cafeteria. You will also receive a free season pass to access the chairlifts.
You will be working midnight 12:00am to 8:30am Tuesday through Saturday night to prepare the slopes for ski area operations on Wednesday through Sunday. You will start your day at the Eaglecrest Maintenance Shop.
Eaglecrest is 640 acres of very diverse terrain with a vertical drop of 1620 vertical feet. The grooming team will typically groom 20 to 25 trails on a nightly basis along with 10 kilometers of Nordic Ski Trails for classic and skate skiing. The alpine trails are very diverse with complex fall lines and challenging snow texture. Being that Juneau and Eaglecrest is in a Coastal Rain Forest the snow conditions are likely to very dramatically day to day from the top of the mountain to the bottom. Average annual snowfall is 320 inches with a record of 640 inches. Eaglecrest is known for getting small repetitive snowfall on a daily basis and can also have times where you will be grooming wet saturated snow.

SnowCat grooming experience or heavy equipment operating experience or experience maintaining heavy equipment is desirable but not required.
Must be able to climb and have no fear of working in high places. Must have good guest service skills; be able to work a schedule which includes long hours, weekends and holidays; and be able to function well in adverse weather conditions.
