Job summary

CoxHealth South Virtual Care Command Center, Springfield, MO, is seeking a Virtual Med-Surg RN to support bedside nurses by managing admissions, discharges, care plans, and patient education in a high-technology nurse-led environment.

The role requires MO RN licensure, at least two years of inpatient nursing experience, and strong leadership, critical thinking, and communication skills. Evening/night shifts, within a 24/7 virtual care setting.

Qualifications

• RN license active in Missouri
• Minimum of two years nursing experience on inpatient unit
• Charge nurse or preceptor experience and specialty nursing certification is a plus

Responsibilities

• Assist with admission and discharge processes
• Develop and maintain care plans; patient education
• Provide medication and discharge teaching
• Care coordination and collaboration with multidisciplinary team
• Mentor new nurses; uphold patient safety surveillance

Our virtual nurses are centrally located in the Virtual Command Center at Cox South. The virtual nurse will assist with tasks such completing the admission and discharge process, care plan development and maintenance, patient education, medication and discharge teaching, care coordination, mentoring of new nurses, and implementation of evidence-based care. The virtual eAcute nurse assists the primary bedside nurse with nursing tasks not required to be done in person as well as real-time quality and patient safety surveillance.
