Job summary

CoxHealth is seeking a skilled registered nurse to join the Virtual Nursing Command Center team in Springfield, MO. This hybrid role blends bedside nursing with virtual care to monitor patients from admission to discharge, collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and the Early Intervention Team, and support bedside RNs.

Required: Missouri RN license and a graduate of an accredited nursing program; preferred: BSN.

Qualifications

• RN license active in Missouri required or eligible
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program required
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred
• Minimum two years of inpatient nursing experience required or equivalent
• Charge nurse or preceptor experience and specialty certification preferred
• Strong communication, leadership, and critical thinking skills

Responsibilities

• Assist with admissions and discharges and care plan development.
• Provide patient education and discharge teaching.
• Coordinate medications, care plans, and safety measures.
• Mentor new nurses and support ongoing clinical education.
• Support bedside RNs and collaborate with virtual physicians, pharmacists, and Early Intervention Team.
• Contribute to real-time quality and patient safety surveillance.

** This position will be located in our Virtual Care Command Center located at Cox South Hospital**

Consider joining our team in a hybrid position in a cross training role which includes both bedside nursing shifts and an opportunity to grow new skills as a virtual nurse. Our Virtual Nursing Command Center is full of advanced technology that gives our patients an extra level of monitoring from admission to discharge. Our virtual nurses are centrally located in the Virtual Command Center at Cox South. They use this technology to support our bedside RNs with tasks to make lighten their workload as well as monitor patient’s vital signs, assist with admissions and discharges, and collaborate with our virtual physicians, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, and Early Intervention Team! The eAcute Virtual Med-Surg nurse is a pivotal member of the healthcare team to assist with managing the care of the adult or geriatric patient experiencing general medical conditions or general surgical procedures. The virtual nurse will assist with tasks such completing the admission and discharge process, care plan development and maintenance, patient education, medication and discharge teaching, care coordination, mentoring of new nurses, and implementation of evidence-based care. The virtual eAcute nurse assists the primary bedside nurse with nursing tasks not required to be done in person as well as real-time quality and patient safety surveillance. The eAcute Virtual Med-Surg nurse maintains a wide array of medical care knowledge in order to care for a diverse group of patients

Education: Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing program Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

Experience: Required: Minimum of two years previous nursing experience on inpatient nursing unit Preferred: Charge nurse or preceptor experience and specialty nursing certification
