Job summary

National Police in Massachusetts seeks a Public Safety Dispatcher to receive, dispatch, and record telephone and radio communications, including NCIC and LEAPS, in compliance with FCC and department regulations.

You will dispatch vehicles to calls, keep patrols informed of safety factors, and perform typing and clerical duties as needed. Must be able to work three shifts; overtime may be required. HS diploma required; typing speed 35 wpm.

Qualifications

• Typing speed of 35 wpm or faster.
• Public safety dispatching knowledge.
• Ability to follow FCC and department regulations.

Salary: $26.24 to $28.80

Essential Functions:

• Responsibilities include receiving, dispatching and recording telephone and radio communications, and NCIC and LEAPS communications according to FCC and Dept. regulations.
• Dispatches vehicles to calls for assistance.
• Keeps police and fire personnel informed of all facts affecting safety or the efficiency of their responses to the call.
• Performs all other duties as assigned. Performs typing and clerical functions.

Requirements:

• Must be able to work any of three scheduled shifts.
• Flexibility to work overtime when necessary is an essential function of this position.
• Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and the ability to type 35 wpm.
• Public safety dispatching knowledge of E- 911 and computer aided dispatching preferred.
