Primary Purpose

The Solutions Architect II is responsible for translating business requirements into solution architecture deliverables. They collaborate closely with the Architecture Community and Application/Product teams to ensure that business needs are understood, assessed, and translated into feasible, effective technological solutions. This strategic role focuses on complex solution design across multiple projects or products, involving setting technical direction, mentoring other solution architects, and engaging with product leaders and business stakeholders. They analyze technical feasibility, create detailed architectural designs considering scalability, security, performance, and integration, and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture guidelines and strategic goals.

Solution Architects play a crucial role in:

• Providing technical leadership and guidance during project execution.
• Leading vendor selection and management.
• Ensuring knowledge transfer and maintaining documentation for continuity.
• Evaluating project outcomes against expected benefits.
• Presenting architecture designs to enterprise architects and architecture forums.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, providing recommendations and influencing decision-making for IT solutions.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architects to align solutions with enterprise standards.
• Develop and review solution architecture blueprints, ensuring interaction requirements are clearly defined.
• Design scalable, future-proof solutions considering hardware, infrastructure, and data constraints.
• Drive simplicity in design through asset re-use.
• Ensure solutions meet team criteria for sprint readiness.
• Contribute to IT/Architecture standards and guidelines.
• Mentor and direct Solution Architects and technical team members.
• Identify non-functional requirements related to performance, security, and scalability.
• Lead adoption of new technologies and methodologies.
• Ensure license compliance and review solution designs for standards and security.
• Support embedding security, privacy, and regulatory needs into solutions.

Required Qualifications

• Master's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience and certifications.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in technology roles.
• 5+ years in advanced or technical roles involving design, architecture, and guiding teams.
• Proven experience in enterprise network and security solutions, including network protocols, firewalls, VPNs, DDoS protection, SD-WAN, SASE, Zero Trust, and network access controls.
• Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, and analytical skills.
• Security-first mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

• Postgraduate degree or advanced certifications in relevant fields.
• Relevant professional certifications (e.g., TOGAF, ArchiMate, Network Solution Architect).
• Experience in retail or grocery sectors.
• Experience with network monitoring tools and security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, CIS).
• Knowledge of budget planning and financial management.

Salary Range: $120,960 - $181,440 (ME/NC/PA/SC); $139,120 - $208,680 (IL/MA/MD).
