Job summary

WestRock Company – Smurfit Westrock Sawmill in Cottonton, AL is seeking an E&I Technician. The role requires 3-5 years of industrial E&I experience or 2-4 years of E&I certificate/diploma. You will read electrical/instrumentation schematics, use test equipment, and troubleshoot PLCs and hydraulic systems.

Strong safety practices (LOTO) and the ability to work on 480V systems, on 3rd shift with overtime are required; high school diploma or GED is essential.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years industrial E&I experience or 2-4 years industrial E&I certificate/diploma from an accredited school.
• Ability to work safely and understand Lock out / Tag out procedures.
• Ability to interpret electrical and instrumentation schematics and drawings.
• Ability to use electrical test equipment: multimeter, megger, amp probe.
• Good understanding of PLCs and ladder logic and to troubleshoot independently.
• Familiar with 480V 3‑phase motor starters and 240V/120V/24V circuits.
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems and Variable Frequency Drives.
• Willingness to work overtime and 3rd shift; pass written testing requirements.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Role

E&I Technician, Smurfit Westrock Sawmill in Cottonton Al is looking to fill an open position for an E&I Technician. We are looking for someone who can meet the following requirements:

• 3-5 years industrial E&I experience or
• 2-4 years industrial E&I certificate/diploma from accredited school
• Ability to work safely / understands Lock out / Tag out
• Ability to interpret electrical and instrumentation schematics and drawings
• Ability to use electrical test equipment, multi meter, megger, amp probe
• Good understanding of PLCs and ladder logic
• Trouble shoot electrical issues independently
• Familiar with 480v 3 phase motor starters
• Ability to trouble shoot 240v, 120v, and 24v circuits
• Good understanding of hydraulic systems and the ability to troubleshoot
• Knowledge of Variable Frequency Drives
• Available to work overtime and 3rd shift
• Pass written testing requirements
• High School Diploma or GED
