Job summary

Jobtailor in Houston is seeking an experienced industrial electrical and instrumentation estimator to lead bid costings for large capital projects. You will develop detailed estimates from scopes, drawings, and specs, manage quantity take-offs, and coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to keep bids competitive.

You will review labor costs, navigate licensing requirements, and drive bid reviews across divisions, while maintaining schedules and risk-aware strategies to win proposals for

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience with industrial electrical and instrumentation estimating.
• Competitive bid experience up to $20M in petro-chemical, gas processing, refining, and other heavy industrial facilities
• Electrical and instrumentation field experience highly preferred
• Advanced knowledge of estimating strategies and techniques
• Ability to conceptualize estimates without complete information
• Thorough understanding of construction industry practices, processes, and standards and their impact on project activities
• Knowledge of estimating software programs
• Occasional travel required
• Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Professional, ethical, and team player willing to grow with the company

Responsibilities

• Prepare and take ownership of cost estimates for bids and project proposals

• Solicit quotes from suppliers, subcontractors, and specified manufacturers
• Distribute and maintain control of bid documents
• Establish construction schedules
• Identify requirements for weather protection, cranes, hoists, temporary facilities, services, and other indirect project costs
• Ensure bid forms are completed and properly executed
