Job summary

NES Fircroft is seeking an E&I Engineer to provide services for internal and external customers. You will develop and execute site preventative maintenance activities and support capital construction and maintenance projects at Geismar and other client locations.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical or Instrument Engineering, several years in chemical or petro-chemical maintenance/design, and a Louisiana PE license. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Instrument Engineering is required.
• Several years of chemical or petro-chemical maintenance or design experience preferred.
• Professional Engineer license for Louisiana and TWIC is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in managing technical documentation for the facility and transfer of project documentation.
• Serve as project manager or design engineer on capital projects including cost estimating and equipment specs.
• Provide engineering support for maintenance and the facility's DCS.
• Recommend future expansion projects considering operability, safety and maintainability.
• Review changes in equipment/procedures and participate in root cause/HAZOP studies.
• Develop Quality, Risk Management, and Process Safety Management programs.
• Represent the terminal with outside agencies and customers as needed.
• Wear PPE and perform duties safely, including travel to client locations.

Job description

The E&I Engineer is responsible for providing services for internal and external customer needs. Develop and execute site preventative maintenance activities. The position will also support capital construction and maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the managing of the technical documentation of the facility including the transfer of all project and design documentation and drawings fromengineering/constructioncompanies.
• Serve as project manager and/or design engineer on capital projects. Responsibilities include cost estimating, equipment selection and specification (electrical, instrumentation, and industrial control systems), contract bidding, field oversight, start-up, and commissioning.
• Provide engineering support at various aspects of servicing, repair and maintenance of the facility including its comprehensive Distributed Control System.
• Make recommendations for future expansion projects with reference to adequacy, operability, safety, maintainability, etc.
• Review and recommend modifications and changes in the facility’s equipment and/or procedures and coordinate the process of change. Participate in “Root Cause Analysis Studies” and/or “HAZOP Studies” where appropriate.
• Assist in the development of Quality Programs, the Risk Management Program, and the Process Safety Management Program.
• Represent the terminal with outside agencies and customers as needed.
• Wear appropriate PPE for required task, and safely perform job duties
• Coordinates with the Facility Directors.
• Perform these functions and responsibilities not only at Geismar, but other clientlocations as needed.
• Drive a company vehicle.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Instrument Engineering
• Several years’ experience in Chemical or Petro-Chemical industry maintenance or design.
• Valid Driver’s License
• TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to client’s terminal locations.
• Professional Engineering License for the state of Louisiana.
• Programming experience in DCS (Foxboro I/A), PLC, and HMI.

Hours of Work

• Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday but can be unusual hours as necessary.
• This is an exempt, salaried position. The role requires flexibility as business needs require.
• Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice.

• The large scale of the operation and the extensive layout of the facility require that the applicant have the ability to walk and stand on uneven terrain, to climb stairs and ladders, and traverse inclines: uphill, downhill or mixed. Furthermore, because the facility and adjoining facilities handle hazardous materials, the applicant must be able to ingress and egress in foreseeable emergencies. The applicant must be able to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
