Job summary

NorthStar Energy Services, a Quanta Services company, is seeking a Drafter I to join our Engineering Consulting team in Baton Rouge, LA. The Drafter I will produce high-quality electrical design deliverables under project leads’ guidance, collaborating with engineers and designers across disciplines.

The role focuses on drafting, 3D modeling in AutoCAD/CADWorx/Revit, and producing site-specific power distribution drawings for data centers and oil & gas clients.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience as an E&I Drafter supporting industrial, energy, or EPC projects.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage shifting priorities and multiple deadlines.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Design & Drafting: Develop and locate electrical and instrumentation equipment within a 3D model environment using AutoCAD, CADWorx, and Revit.
• Coordinate with project leads to produce site-specific power distribution and control system drawings.
• Interpret PFDs and P&IDs to develop project deliverables that meet design requirements.
• Prepare construction-ready drawings including plans, layouts, one-lines, wiring diagrams, and installation details for electrical systems under the guidance of engineers and lead designers.
• Size cabinets, panelboards, cable tray, and conduits based on project scope, codes, and vendor data.
