Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company seeks an Engineer II / Project Manager Engineering II to lead capital projects from initiation to completion. Roles support base capital upgrades at existing facilities or strategic initiatives, including renewable energy systems. This is a 1-year contract role reporting to the manager.

The candidate will manage scope, budgets, schedules and safety, coordinating engineers, contractors and vendors across multi-discipline teams to deliver on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or related).
• 5–7+ years of engineering experience; preferred for Level II roles.
• Minimum 2+ years of project management experience.
• Experience in utility, energy, or oil & gas industries preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead full lifecycle project management from scope to closeout.
• Validate project justification; incorporate stakeholder requirements.
• Manage budget, schedule, quality and safety performance.
• Coordinate procurement of consultants, contractors and materials.
• Oversee execution; conduct field visits to monitor progress.
• Ensure vendor/contractor compliance with requirements.
• Review design documentation and engineering drawings.
• Conduct vendor inspections and witness equipment testing when needed.
• Collaborate across operations, environment, sourcing, controls and engineering.
• Facilitate project closeout and transition to operations.

Education

About the role:

We are hiring on behalf of our client for an Engineer II / Project Manager Engineering II is responsible for managing capital engineering projects from initiation through completion. These roles support either base capital projects at existing generation facilities (natural gas and coal) or strategic capital initiatives involving large, complex projects such as renewable energy systems and major infrastructure upgrades. Both positions require strong technical engineering knowledge combined with project management expertise to ensure safe, cost-effective, and timely project execution. This is a 1‑year contract role. You will report to the manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead full lifecycle project management including scope development, execution, and closeout
• Validate project justification and ensure stakeholder requirements are incorporated into scope
• Manage project budget, schedule, quality, and safety performance
• Coordinate procurement activities including hiring engineering consultants, contractors, and ordering materials/equipment
• Oversee project execution and conduct periodic field visits to monitor progress
• Ensure compliance with contract requirements for vendors, contractors, and suppliers
• Review and support design documentation and engineering drawings
• Conduct vendor/shop inspections and witness equipment testing when needed
• Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, environmental, sourcing, project controls, and engineering teams
• Facilitate project closeout and transition to operations teams

• 5–7+ years of engineering experience (preferred for Level II roles)

We estimate the base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, to be ($65.00/hr-$70.00/hr).
