Responsibilities

• Make repairs to aircraft following orders of higher grade worker
• Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft systems including structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, APU, and HVAC
• Remove, clean, reinstall, or replace defective parts and fittings
• Supervise jacking and towing of aircraft
• Make adjustments to cable tension and seating positions
• Obtain standard parts via manuals and comparisons
• Perform pre-flight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections
• Enter maintenance notes into records

Join our Defense Systems team as a SCA Aircraft Worker in Lake Charles, LA, supporting a maintenance program with Northrop Grumman. The Navy E-6 is an airborne command post and communications relay based on the Boeing 707 platform. This platform, now modified to the E-6B standard, conveys instructions from the National Command Authority to fleet ballistic missile submarines in TACAMO missions.

These positions are Service Contract Act positions. This position is hired for any shift.

Responsibilities

• Makes repairs to aircraft following orders of higher grade worker
• Assists in troubleshooting malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces and controls, anti-icing, pneudraulic, engines, auxiliary power unit, and ventilation and heating systems
• Removes, cleans, reinstalls, or replaces defective parts, accessories, and components such as worn gaskets, couplings, and fittings, bad actuators, accumulators, gauges, sections of corroded fuel and oil lines
• Supervise the jacking and towing of aircraft
• Makes adjustments and settings such as cable tension and seat movement settings and adjustments
• Obtains standard parts such as fuel and oil line connections and fittings, cable linkage, and spark plug cables and harnesses by referring to parts manuals and by making comparisons with samples
• Perform pre-flight, thru-flight, and post-flight maintenance inspections
• Enter in the maintenance records description of the work performed

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and a minimum 1 year relevant experience OR 1 year of additional education/technical school, such as an A&P course
• Able to perform work in an approved environment during specified work hours
• Able to change physical locations based upon need (including physical ability to travel)
• Ability to be subject to a variety of physical conditions
• Able to wear respirator or other safety gear
• Ability to be subject to areas which could cause various phobias due to height or closed spaces
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

• A&P License
• Prior E-6B/707 aircraft experience
• Currently enrolled in A&P Program or recently completed an A&P Program

Salary and Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $28.39 - $28.39. The salary range is a general guideline; offers consider factors such as responsibilities, candidate experience, education, and market conditions. Depending on the position, overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus may be available. Annual bonuses may reward individual contributions and company results. In some roles, Long Term Incentives may be offered.
