The Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program (NG‑MIP) is an approved SkillBridge Program that gives transitioning service members an entry‑to‑mid‑level internship lasting up to 180 days during the last six months of their active duty.

SkillBridge Internship Responsibilities

• On‑site internship with a host company supporting a work schedule of 40 hours per week.
• Learn job‑specific skills and potentially transition to a full‑time role at the end of the program.
• Participate in professional development, networking with leadership, and training focused on company history and customer engagement.

DoD SkillBridge Eligibility

• Served at least 180 days on active duty.
• Within 12 months of separation or retirement.
• Will receive an honorable discharge.
• Has taken TAPS/TGPS or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months.
• Has unit‑command written authorization for the program.

Aircraft Mechanics – Lake Charles, LA

Northrop Grumman seeks experienced aircraft mechanics to support a maintenance program on the Navy E‑6 airborne command post and communications relay.

Job Duties

• Maintain, repair, and modify aircraft electrical wiring and components.
• Repair flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
• Troubleshoot and restore aircraft systems using technical documentation.
• Perform inspections and maintenance on engines, jet turbines, and hydraulic systems.
• Read and interpret maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and engineering data.
• Use hand, power tools, and specialized equipment for component repairs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) with a minimum of two years of experience.
• Thorough knowledge of aircraft electrical wiring and component troubleshooting.
• Broad knowledge of aircraft modifications, electrical theory, and unique tools.
• Ability to remove, disassemble, and re‑assemble engine components.
• Proficiency with schematics, drawings, and technical manuals.

Preferred Qualifications

• A&P License.
• Prior E‑6B experience.
• Available to obtain a Secret DoD clearance.
• Experience performing major aircraft modifications.

Salary and Benefits

Primary Level Salary Range: $34.90 – $34.90 hourly.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonuses. Additional benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off.
