The Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program (NG-MIP) is an approved SkillBridge Program under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.1322.29. NG-MIP program is an opportunity for transitioning service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through an individual internship during their last 6 months of service, for up to 180 days. The Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program is open to all ranks and experience levels. SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from Northrop Grumman, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.

Responsibilities

Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) has developed the Northrop Grumman - Military Internship Program (DoD SkillBridge) utilizing the DoDI guidance for SkillBridge. During this program, the service member will be on-site at their host company performing an individual internship in an entry to mid-level career type role. The service member will undergo on-the-job training, supporting a work schedule equivalent to 40 hours per week. Outlined below are the Goals, Objectives, and Outcomes for the program:

• Goals: Transitioning service members will receive fellowship-style job skills training during the last portion of their military commitment. This program is specifically designed to offer internships that result in the potential to transition to a full-time opportunity at the conclusion of the training. Interns will serve as a pipeline for high-speed, motivated military candidates into NGC.
• Objectives: Service members who complete the Intern program will be highly trained, capable future employees that align with the specific needs of the organization and are prepared to meet the NG mission "Defining Possible" on Day 1. This program provides a comprehensive internship experience, including professional development, networking with leadership, and training focused on NG leadership principles, company history, customer/stakeholder engagement, product and service overview, and core job responsibilities.
• Outcomes: Offer transitioning service members a rewarding opportunity to join the Northrop Grumman team.

DoD SkillBridge Eligibility

• Has served at least 180 days on active duty
• Is within 12 months of separation or retirement
• Will receive an honorable discharge
• Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS
• Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
• Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to the start of the internship.

Position Details

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Aircraft Mechanic 3/4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals supporting the B-2 Contract Field Team (CFT). This role is located at Whiteman AFB, MO.

This position requires a security clearance, so an active clearance is preferred, but a clearance request will be submitted for the selected candidate if necessary. The nature of this position requires individuals to be comfortable working in a classified environment; cell phones and personal electronic devices are prohibited within these areas.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Must obtain and maintain qualifications/certifications as directed by the supervisor, including but not limited to; aircraft inspections, structures, electrical, low observables, hydraulic couplings, window replacement, engine/tailpipe removal/installation.
• Perform a variety of inspections/operations such as Phase, HPOs, remove/install aircraft engines/tailpipe, electrical wiring, coaxial cables, and low observables.
• Troubleshoots, repairs, and services aircraft and engines systems.
• Interprets and uses various test equipment and works from wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, job guides, and maintenance manuals.
• Troubleshoots and accurately diagnoses malfunctions to properly identify and correct problems in minimum time.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, job guides, and maintenance manuals.
• Measures parts with precision tools such as micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions.
• Performs maintenance, disassembly, rework, repair, replacement, re-assembly, or adjustment of various aircraft systems in accordance with technical specifications, engineering instructions, and FAA regulations.
• May perform similar duties in aircraft build, modification, or maintenance role.
• Use of appropriate PPE when working on the shop floor.
• Troubleshoots and accurately diagnoses malfunctions to properly identify and correct problems in minimum time.

The selected candidate must be willing to work various shifts depending on business needs, including, but not limited to: 1st shift 0630 - 1500, 2nd shift 1430 - 2300, 3rd shift 2230 - 0700, and overtime when required.

Basic Qualifications

• Level 3: Must have a High School diploma or equivalent (GED) and 4 years of relevant experience in the Aviation and Aerospace industry and/or additional education.
• Level 4: Must have a High School diploma or equivalent (GED) and 6 years of relevant experience in the Aviation and Aerospace industry and/or additional education.
• Your ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated Secret Clearance and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company.
• Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, weekends, and support on-call status for 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week, 365 days a year.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, job guides, and maintenance manuals.
• This position requires the ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include: bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, lifting up to 50 pounds, working overhead, and accessing small, confined spaces.
• Must be able to pass a physical/respiratory evaluation to obtain and maintain necessary respirator clearance and compliance with all respirator fitting requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Active DOD Secret Clearance with an investigation date/periodic review within the last 6 years.
• Completion of A&P certificate program or Associate's degree in an applicable field.

Salary Range

Primary Level Salary Range: $54,500.00 - $90,800.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $64,700.00 - $107,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company-paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
