Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; Texas Teaching Certificate with endorsements for subject/level or approved permit.
• Three (3) years teaching experience preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills with knowledge of reading/writing processes.

Responsibilities

• Keep informed about current legislation, educational developments and research; participate in professional organizations and staff development.
• Implement the Dyslexia program as outlined in professional development sessions.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and 504 committees to modify lessons for students with special needs per IEP/504 plans.
• Communicate student progress to students, teachers, principals, and parents.
• Plan and execute lessons reflecting accommodations for individual needs.
• Work with staff to set instructional goals and methods for diverse populations.
• Prepare the classroom and students for the Dyslexia program.
• Monitor progress and provide supplemental instruction and motivation as needed.
• Document and analyze student progress and administer assessments, including placement tests.
• Use appropriate materials/software and review mastery as needed.
• Demonstrate professional and ethical behavior; serve as a positive role model.
