Qualifications

• Education/Certification: High School Diploma or GED, required
• Associate Degree or 48 college hours, required
• Paraprofessional Certification (required upon employment)

Responsibilities

• Assist dyslexia teacher with implementing the Dyslexia program as outlined in PD
• Assist with planning, preparation and execution of lessons and materials
• Prepare classroom and students for the Dyslexia program
• Monitor students during lessons; provide supplemental instruction, motivation and encouragement
• Document and analyze student progress
• Assist with administration and scoring of assessments to determine placement
• Utilize lesson materials/software and check for mastery
• Model professional and ethical behavior; be a positive role model
• Train students to use materials/software for the Dyslexia program
• Maintain open communication with students, parents, colleagues and community
• Maintain discretion and confidentiality
• Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
