Job summary

WGAL-TV is seeking a Meteorologist / Weather Reporter to forecast for the Lancaster/Harrisburg market and report live from the field. You will craft engaging, accurate weather stories for television, digital and streaming platforms while connecting with viewers and the community.

The right candidate will translate complex data into clear, actionable forecasts, build graphics, and deliver confident, calm coverage during severe weather, while serving as a station ambassador at events.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of meteorology and weather science.
• Dynamic, authentic on-air presence.
• Ability to explain complex weather information clearly.
• Experience with TV weather systems and graphics.

Responsibilities

• Analyze weather data and develop accurate forecasts for the WGAL viewing area.
• Deliver compelling in-studio weather forecasts.
• Build graphics and forecasts with little supervision.
• Provide urgent, authoritative coverage before, during and after severe weather events.
• Report live from the field during severe weather with observations and safety information.
• Create and deliver weather content across TV, digital, streaming and social platforms.
• Collaborate with anchors, reporters, producers and digital teams on cross-platform coverage.
