Job summary

The YMCA of Greenville is seeking a part-time Group Exercise Instructor - Water Aerobics to lead safe and effective water fitness classes at the Club Forest branch. You will arrive on time, lead warm-ups, main sets, stretches, and cool-downs, and modify moves to accommodate all ability levels.

Required certifications include a national group exercise credential (ACE/AFAA/ACSM/NETA) and a water fitness certification, plus CPR/AED and First Aid.

Qualifications

• Current certification with ACE, AFAA, ACSM, or NETA to teach Group Exercise classes.
• Water fitness certification from AEA or Water in Motion.
• Proficient with water exercises and able to maintain enthusiasm during class instruction.
• CPR/AED, First Aid, and abuse prevention certifications.
• Excellent member service skills.
• Strong knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, and physiology.
• Marketing and sales ability.
• Computer skills involving Microsoft Office and email.

Responsibilities

• Arrives at the branch to clock in and prepare to teach the class.
• Begins and ends classes on time.
• Prepares the class format and design with appropriate equipment and music.
• All classes include warm up, main set, cool down, and stretch.
• Keeps classes fresh with new music and movement patterns.
• Knows YMCA emergency procedures and location of First Aid and AED.
• Reports incidents to supervisor and completes incident report.
• Maintains room cleanliness and stores equipment properly.
• Works cooperatively with supervisors and fellow instructors as part of a fitness team.
• Speaks positively about other instructors and recommends classes based on members' abilities.
• Acts as an ambassador for YMCA and learns members’ names.
• Adheres to policies on boundaries with consumers.
• Attends/ completes required abuse risk management training.
• Adheres to procedures for high-risk activities and supervising consumers.
• Follows mandated reporting requirements.
