Job summary

Steve & Kate's Camp in Lake Forest, IL seeks a Summer Camp Substitute Counselor for the 2026 season. The role runs 6/8/2026–8/7/2026 with camp hours 8:00 am–6:00 pm; pay $15.50–$18.00 per hour. Responsibilities include supervising campers, facilitating activities, and ensuring safety.

Ideal candidates are 16+, with 2+ months of camp experience, First Aid & CPR certification, and the ability to collaborate in a vibrant, creative team. Chaperone duties on occasion may be required.

Qualifications

• At least 16 years of age.
• Minimum two months of experience with camp-age children (one year preferred).
• First Aid & CPR certified prior to Day 1 of Camp (additional certifications may be required).
• May be asked to chaperone campers on an off-site field trip where required.

Responsibilities

• Staff members will facilitate activities, build connections, and monitor safety and wellness.
• Some staff will create and/or oversee activity spaces where campers self-select activities; others will work in rotating support roles throughout camp.
• Typical activities include sewing, stop-motion animation, maker space, performing arts, arts and crafts, lounging, recreation, and more.
