Job summary

Simpson Central Elem School is seeking a Substitute Teacher to support instructional efforts when regular classroom teachers are absent. The role requires following lesson plans, maintaining classroom order, and ensuring a safe learning environment for PreK-12 students.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, with a degree preferred, and must hold a Mississippi Substitute Teacher License or Teaching License in accordance with MDE requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Valid Mississippi Substitute Teacher License or Teaching License required (per MDE requirements).
• Successful completion of district substitute training (if applicable).
• Ability to follow lesson plans and classroom procedures.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, administrators, and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction as outlined in lesson plans prepared by the classroom teacher.
• Maintain classroom control and establish a safe and orderly learning environment.
• Carry out daily routines and procedures as directed.
• Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, playgrounds, and other school areas.
• Take attendance and submit reports as required by the school.
• Communicate effectively with administrators and staff regarding classroom or student concerns.
• Follow district policies, including those related to student discipline, confidentiality, and safety.
• Leave written feedback for the returning teacher regarding class activities, student behavior, and assignments completed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal or Designee.
