Job summary

Aztec Municipal School District Central Office in Aztec, New Mexico is seeking a Substitute Teacher to provide instruction and manage the classroom in the absence of the regular teacher. Under the principal’s direction, you will support student learning and assist other school programs as assigned.

This role requires a valid NM Substitute Teaching License, the ability to communicate in English, and the capacity to follow lesson plans, maintain attendance, and foster a safe, respectful learning

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must obtain a Substitute Teaching License from NM Public Education Department.
• 18 years of age if performing instructional services in grades K-8; 21 years of age for grades 9-12.
• Ability to attend training/observations and enter data in computers.
• Ability to implement lessons based on the classroom teacher’s plans and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic course elements.
• Mark attendance and ensure on-time arrivals.
• Maintain a safe, effective classroom environment and protect students and property.
• Provide instruction aligned to district policies and state regulations.
• Communicate with students, staff, administration, and parents.
