Job summary

Henrico County Public Schools is seeking a substitute teacher to deliver instruction in the absence of regular teachers. You will follow teacher-created plans or adapt with district resources, and manage classroom behavior while engaging students across subjects.

This role requires at least 60 semester hours or two years working with children, ability to lift light loads, and flexibility to work short- or long-term assignments. Training and background checks are part of the onboarding process.

Qualifications

• 60 semester hours of college credit or 2 years experience working with children.
• Must complete Child Abuse and Neglect Recognition and Intervention training.

Responsibilities

• Implements teacher created lesson plans or works collaboratively with a team of educators to generate lesson plans, providing differentiated strategies to instruct students at all levels in all content areas.
• Plans, prepares and delivers appropriate curriculum content to students.
• Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all learning activities.
• Uses the curriculum of the district to plan daily instructional activities.
• Maintains order within the classroom setting in accordance with division guidelines regarding student behavior management.
• Communicates regularly with parents, administration, and other staff as needed.
