Job summary

Winthrop Middle School in Winthrop, MA seeks a STEM teacher for grades 6–8 to deliver inquiry-based, standards-aligned instruction in science, technology, engineering and math.

Qualifications

• Massachusetts DESE license (or eligibility) in General Science (5-8), Technology/Engineering (5-12), or Mathematics (5-8).
• SEI Endorsement.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
• Experience teaching middle school students preferred.
• Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
• Comfort with instructional technology and hands-on lab or maker activities.
• Flexibility to step into an established program mid-year.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement standards-aligned STEM instruction for grades 6–8.
• Differentiate instruction for IEPs, 504 plans, and English learners.
• Collaborate with SPE/EL staff and grade-level teams.
• Assess student learning with formative and summative measures and use data to guide instruction.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and inclusive classroom and lab environment.
• Communicate with families about student progress.
• Participate in professional development and school events.
