Job summary

The Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta is seeking a Sports Coordinator to support youth and adult sports programs, tournaments, camps, and special events. This role partners with the Sports Director to ensure safe, well-organized experiences for participants.

Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, game-day operations, participant registration, volunteer coordination, and facility preparation.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, scheduling, game-day ops, and end-of-season admin for assigned sports.
• Manage participant registration, rosters, schedules, standings, playoffs, and league administration.
• Communicate regularly with participants, parents, coaches, officials, volunteers, and captains.
• Provide on-site supervision and support for games, practices, evaluations, tournaments, and events.
• Recruit, schedule, and support volunteer coaches, officials, scorekeepers, and other program staff.
• Assist with facility and equipment preparation, including court/field setup, equipment distribution, cleanup, and inventory.
• Ensure programs begin on time, operate efficiently, and follow MJCCA Sports policies and safety procedures.
• Address participant concerns, resolve conflicts, and respond to challenges professionally.
• Assist recruitment, retention, marketing, and promotion of Sports Department programs.
• Support development and implementation of new leagues, tournaments, instructional programs, and events.
• Maintain accurate program information and records using department software.
• Identify opportunities to improve program quality and participant experience.
• Promote a welcoming, inclusive environment emphasizing sportsmanship and community.
• Assist the Sports Director with additional departmental responsibilities and special projects.
• Assist with organizing and conducting player evaluations to assess skill levels and support balanced team formation.
• Help recruit and develop volunteer coaches, providing guidance on league rules and practices.
• Lead or assist with youth team practices, instructional classes, and skill-development activities.
• Help ensure youth league playing-time requirements and sportsmanship expectations are followed.
• Assist with planning and execution of youth sports camps and school-break programs.
• Support end-of-season celebrations, awards, and other activities.
• Help create a positive youth sports experience that prioritizes development, participation, confidence, and enjoyment.
• Assist with management and operation of adult recreational and competitive leagues, tournaments, and pickup games.
• Work with team captains and participants to promote organized competition and fair play.
• Assist with balancing divisions and formats to suit varying skill levels.
• Help expand adult participation through new leagues and events.
• Support relationships with adult participants and encourage returning teams.
