Job summary

Bellmore-Merrick CSD is seeking a full-time Speech and Language Teacher to provide direct speech-language services to students under IEPs in two high schools. The position is a half-year leave replacement for the 2026-2027 school year through January 29, 2027.

The role requires appropriate NYS certification and involves assessment, goal development, therapy (articulation, language, fluency, social communication), progress monitoring, and collaboration with teachers, families, and related-service

Qualifications

• Licensed NYS speech-language pathologist.
• Experience providing SLP services in K-12 settings.
• Knowledge of IEP processes and CSE involvement.
• Ability to provide individual and group therapy.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct speech and language services to students per IEP.
• Assess communication needs using formal and informal procedures.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Monitor progress toward IEP goals and report outcomes.
• Participate in CSE meetings and annual reviews.
• Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and families.
• Document evaluations, progress notes, and service records.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional standards.
• Identify accommodations and AAC strategies as appropriate.
• Provide services at two high schools as a half-year leave replacement.
