Qualifications

• Connecticut certification as a Speech and Language Pathologist (061) is required.
• Experience administering formal assessments and developing IEP goals is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Administering and interpreting formal assessments to determine eligibility for special education services.
• Observing students in classroom settings to assess how communication impacts academic performance.
• Developing measurable, long-term and short-term goals tailored to each student’s needs.
• Providing direct instruction to improve speech/sound production, language processing, and social communication (pragmatics).
• Training students on Augmentative and Alternative Communication devices for non-verbal or minimally verbal learners.
• Pushing into general education classrooms to help students apply communication skills in real-time.
• Meeting with families to provide resources and carryover activities for speech goals at home.
• Medicaid billing: documenting therapy sessions for reimbursement.
