Job summary

TES Staffing is seeking substitute special education teachers to support K-12 districts on an as-needed basis across the Rochester area. The role involves floating to various districts and providing essential instructional support for students with IEPs.

You will deliver activities aligned with substitute plans, manage diverse classrooms, and collaborate with staff to ensure student progress. This position offers contractual opportunities with potential for hire and competitive daily pay.

Qualifications

• Must obtain and pass background check through NYSED.
• Able to perform physical job duties including walking, standing for long periods, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• May be asked to travel to different schools and facilities on the west side.
• HS diploma plus 1 year of related childcare/teaching experience.
• NYS certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Review and implement students’ IEPs and behavior support plans to ensure consistency and compliance.
• Deliver instructional activities aligned with substitute plans and student goals.
• Provide structured classroom management tailored to diverse behavioral and learning needs.
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture that promotes engagement and growth.
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and school staff to support student success.
• Come prepared with age-appropriate instructional activities to maintain learning momentum if plans are unavailable.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by school building administrators.
