• Instructs assigned students in the location and at the times designated by the principal or the Exceptional Service Director.
• Develops and reviews IEPs that meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
• Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity, interests and abilities of students.
• Guides the learning process toward the achievement of established district/state curriculum goals and benchmarks; establishes and communicates clear objectives to the students for all lessons, units, and projects.
• Employs a variety of instructional techniques, strategies, and media that are most appropriate for meeting the needs of the students.
• Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis; provides progress reports as required; communicates with parents about students’ progress.
• Refers speech eligible students for further assessment if warranted.
• Develops reasonable rules for classroom behavior and procedures; maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
• Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
• Attends building and district meetings to promote communication, collaboration, and mutual decision-making among the staff.
