Job summary

Beaufort County School District seeks a certified Special Education teacher for BROAD RIVER ELEMENTARY (High-Needs School). You will establish learning objectives, design instructional activities, assess students, and provide guidance to address adjustment and academic needs.

The role requires SC teaching certification (or eligibility within 60 days) and completion of a Special Education program. Collaboration with staff and family communication are essential to support student success.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid South Carolina teaching certificate or be able to obtain one within 60 days of hire.
• If required, must be Highly Qualified in the content area or be able to become Highly Qualified within 60 days of hire.
• Must have completed a program of study in Special Education from an accredited college or university.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct a balanced program of instruction with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
• Provide developmentally and academically appropriate opportunities that support curiosity, exploration and problem-solving.
• Create and implement a dynamic classroom environment conducive to learning and students' social-emotional development.
• Select materials/equipment appropriate for the instructional program.
• Model positive behavior management and collaborate with staff on planning and delivery of services.
• Assist in parent involvement and communications to keep families informed.
