Job summary

Carney, Sandoe & Associates seeks Spanish Teachers for the 2027-2028 school year at independent schools in the Washington DC area. We provide a free placement service connecting educators with private schools that fit their needs and qualifications.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s in Spanish (Master’s preferred) and 2–3 years of teaching experience, with proficiency in Spanish and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Linguistics, Education, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Proven written and verbal proficiency in Spanish.
• 2–3 years of teaching experience.
• No teaching license or credential required.
• Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
• Organized, dependable, and eager to contribute to the school community.
• Willingness to assist with school sports teams and extracurricular activities.
• Knowledge of ACTFL standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach several Spanish courses each semester for lower, middle, or upper school students.
• Teach Spanish language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing through diverse instructional methods.
• Create opportunities for students to practice conversational Spanish and improve pronunciation and comprehension.
• Organize events where students can showcase their Spanish language skills.
• Communicate with parents regarding student progress and behavior.
• Participate in regular professional development activities to stay current with best practices and innovation in language education.
