Job summary

DeKalb County School District is seeking a Social Studies Teacher at Tucker Middle School for the 2026-2027 school year. The teacher will deliver instruction aligned with district standards, maintain a positive classroom environment, and promote academic achievement for diverse learners.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and a valid Georgia teaching certificate, with ESOL and Gifted endorsements preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from a Georgia PSC approved accredited college or university in the relevant educational field required.
• Valid Professional Standards Commission approved teaching certificate in the appropriate educational field required.
• ESOL & Gifted endorsements required.

Responsibilities

• Teaches grade relevant, subject matter specific, and mandated curriculum.
• Develops and implements lesson plans and activities through in-person and virtual learning.
• Communicates with district personnel, students, and parents by phone, email, or video conferencing.
• Creates an in-person and virtual classroom environment conducive to learning and development.
• Uses internet and web-based technology to provide instruction and collaboration with students.
• Assesses, documents, and reports achievement progress, grades, and attendance.
• Supervises and manages student behavior per the Student Code of Conduct.
• Participates in conferences with parents, students, counselors, teachers, principal, and administrators.
• Performs general instructional duties and attends professional development sessions.
• Directs paraprofessional or instructional aide as needed.
• Maintains prompt and regular work attendance.
• Special Education duties include case management, IEP communications, and compliance.
• Special Education and CTAE specifications include required certifications and industry experience.
