Job summary

Midland Independent School District is seeking a School Nurse (Registered Nurse) substitute to join the Health Services team in Midland, Texas. The role emphasizes emergency care standards, student health assessments, and collaboration with families and staff.

The RN must hold current Texas licensure, CPR and First Aid certifications, and be prepared to screen vision/hearing/spine and maintain immunization records.

Qualifications

• Registered Professional Nurse with diploma/associate/baccalaureate prep
• Current Texas nursing license as required
• CPR and Basic First Aid certification required
• Texas DOH vision/hearing/spinal screening certs required
• Recommend courses in nursing/education/health education
• Coursework in child growth and development supportive

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for ill and injured students
• Complete vision, hearing, spinal and dental screening
• Refer and follow-up on student needs
• Maintain immunization records and student health files
• Develop individual health care plans when needed
• Support students and families with health-related issues
• Communicate health concerns to Principal and Health Supervisor
• Supervise clinic staff and maintain health facilities
• Participate in district staff development and meetings

Skills

Current Texas license issued by the Bn

Current CPR and Basic First Aid

Experience in community health or pedi

Education

Registered Professional Nurse with academic preparation at the diploma, associate degree, or baccalaureate level

Current Texas license issued by the Board of Nurse Examiners

Current certification in CPR and Basic First Aid

Texas Dept of Health certification in vision, hearing, and spinal screening

Courses strengthening growth in nursing, education, health education

Courses for child growth and development
