Job summary

Ipswich Middle School is seeking a dependable Building-Based Substitute to cover classes on a full school day, Monday–Friday when school is in session. The role involves working in one building, filling in for teachers and staff as needed, and supporting students and staff in various capacities throughout the day.

The substitute will deliver lesson plans, maintain a safe learning environment, and collaborate with staff to support instructional and non-instructional activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with children in an educational setting preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt to various classroom environments and grade levels.
• Reliability, punctuality, and collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily classroom coverage in the absence of the regular teacher or paraprofessional.
• Deliver lesson plans and maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
• Support students’ academic and social-emotional needs.
• Assist with supervision duties (e.g., hallways, lunch, recess) as assigned.
• Collaborate with building staff to support instructional and non-instructional activities.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow all district policies and procedures.
