Job summary

The City of Crestwood Parks and Recreation Department seeks a full-time Recreation Specialist to lead Day Camp and Sports programming as the City transitions to the new facility opening in 2027.

The ideal candidate will develop, market and implement a broad range of recreation programs, maintain reports, conduct market research, and supervise staff during manager absences. Evening, weekend, and holiday hours are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in parks and recreation, physical education, hospitality management, marketing, business, or related field required; two years of experience as a recreation coordinator, programs coordinator, special events coordinator, or related customer service is preferred (in lieu of a degree, at least six years of experience is required).
• Must have or be able to obtain a Missouri driver's license within 30 days of hire.
• Certification in CPR/AED and first aid required; CPRP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, market and implement a broad range of recreation programs including sports and day camp.
• Maintain statistical reports and schedules for programs.
• Perform program research and market research.
• Enforce department policies and procedures.
• Recruit, interview and monitor seasonal employees and independent contractors.
• Develop weekly camp schedules and sports programs; supervise staff in the absence of the Recreation Manager and Director.
• Work weeknights, weekends, holidays and irregular hours.
