Job summary

Responsibilities

• Organizes and sets up programs and activities; supervises recreation activities; resolves differences that may arise during play.
• Enforces safety rules and guidelines; may serve as lifeguard at pools.
• Greets the public at the front desk; answers phones; provides information; processes fees; balances cash drawer.
• Participates in short- and long-range planning; obtains permits where applicable.
• Supervises events; coordinates parking and security; assists with clean-up.
• Assists with contracts, events, and information needed to run programs.
• Assigns equipment; ensures cleanliness and operability of equipment.
• Maintains logs, forms for registration, attendance sheets, and files program information.
• Opens/closes recreation buildings; checks facilities; reports maintenance; manages keys.
• Prepares bulletin boards, flyers; orders supplies; manages files and databases.
• Sets up rooms; prepares spaces for activities; ships and stores equipment.
• Schedules and rents gym/picnic shelters; manages money received; plans leagues.
• Prepares purchase orders for transportation needs.
• Postes and fills summer camp positions; screens applicants; conducts background checks; performs references; drug tests; handles new hire paperwork.
• Maintains payroll for temporary employees.
• Purchases/inventories supplies; maintains closets; issues clothing; verifies receipts.
• Supervises/coaches staff.
• May require childcare training; decorates for events; minor maintenance; ensures cleanliness; attends meetings; performs other duties.
