Job summary

Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park & Recreation District is seeking a Recreation Instructor to plan, lead, and supervise recreation classes and activities for diverse participant groups. You will ensure safety, teach activities, and adapt lessons to different skill levels and needs.

The role requires current CPR/AED/First Aid certifications, a willingness to work varied hours, and the ability to interact positively with participants of all ages. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Significant experience in a related activity.
• Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification.
• Current certifications in the recreation area as needed.
• Must pass criminal background check.
• Experience playing or coaching basketball.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and facilitate recreation program classes, workshops, or trips.
• Establish and communicate expected conduct to ensure a safe learning environment, enforcing safety rules to prevent injury.
• Explain rules and instruct participants at varying skill levels.
• Modify activities to suit specific groups (e.g., seniors).
• Administer basic first aid if needed.
• Organize and set up tools and equipment for activities.
• Teach activity participants per lesson plans.
• Maintain close supervision and maximize safety of staff and participants.
• Establish and maintain relationships with participants.
• Attend in-service training sessions as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
