Job summary

St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital seeks a licensed Physical Therapist Assistant to provide PT treatment under the supervision of a licensed PT, achieving specific measurable goals.

The role includes assisting with testing, evaluations, and procedures, and reporting to the Clinical Coordinator. You will design and fit adaptive devices, educate patients and families, and maintain thorough records while supervising rehab staff and coordinating with physicians in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Must be certified as a PTA.
• Mississippi state licensure as required.
• Experience in related environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains established departmental policies, procedures, quality assurance, safety and infection control standards.
• Assists the Physical Therapist during patient testing, evaluations and procedures.
• Carries out a treatment program for assigned patients as determined by the PT evaluation.
• Designs and fits adaptive devices such as orthotics and mobility aids based on patient needs.
• Teaches patients and families the skills required for participation in Physical Therapy.
• Reports changes in a patient’s condition to the supervising PT and updates treatment plans.
• Maintains medical records on patient responses to treatment techniques.
• Supervises Rehabilitation Technicians and Aides; communicates with physicians.
• Conducts or participates in Inservice training for hospital personnel.
• Participates in educational programs and Inservice meetings.
• Attends meetings as required and performs other duties as assigned.

Education

Associate's degree and graduation from an accredited PTA program
