Job summary

City of Cambridge is seeking a Substitute Teacher to support seven preschool and seven afterschool programs. You will help maintain schedules and activities, and support children’s engagement throughout the day.

Applicants should have 18+ years of age, a HS Diploma or GED, and be able to pass EEC checks. First Aid/CPR certification or within 6 months is required. This role requires adaptability and strong communication with staff and students.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children preschool through 5th grade.
• High School Diploma or GED required; associate's degree preferred.
• Meets or exceeds EEC regulations for Substitute Teacher.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Pass EEC Background Records Check including CORI, SORI, DCF and Fingerprinting.
• First Aid & CPR certified or obtain within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Upon arrival, follow the site director's instructions for the time period in the classroom.
• Support a positive learning environment; engage with children and monitor safety.
• Assist teachers in facilitating learning activities; may work with one child or a small group.
• Ensure safety of children during outdoor play, field trips, and transitions.
• Assist with classroom duties such as lunch/snack prep; maintain cleanup; refer behavior/parent concerns to teachers.
• Maintain a professional manner at all times.
