Job summary

City of Thornton is seeking an enthusiastic pickleball instructor to lead group and private lessons. You will prepare lesson plans, teach players of different levels, and reserve courts as needed.

The role requires safety adherence and effective communication with participants and guardians. The ideal candidate has prior pickleball experience, CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days), and strong customer-service skills.

Qualifications

• Requires one season or six months of Pickleball sport experience as a participant or instructor.
• CPR certificate and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Knowledge of the policies, procedures and goals of the City of Thornton.
• Knowledge of basic pickleball instruction or coaching pickleball lessons to participants of all abilities.
• Skill in CPR and First Aid activities.
• Skill in demonstrating basic techniques of the sport and conducting racquet lessons.
• Ability to lead and coordinate classes or lessons.

Responsibilities

• Instruct pickleball sport classes and private lessons under general supervision.
• Prepare, implement, and evaluate group and private lesson plans.
• Teach pickleball sport skills to participants of various levels.
• Reserve courts for group and private lessons.
• Coordinate dates and times for private lesson instruction.
• Ensure all safety measures are observed and followed.
• Communicate and enforce facility and class policies and procedures.
• Respond to emergencies and report accidents and incidents to supervisor.
• Provide excellent customer service by answering questions and resolving problems.
• Monitor participant attendance against rosters and ensure payments are received.
• Report issues and concerns to supervisor.
• Comply with city and departmental rules, policies, and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
