Job summary

University Orthopedics in Rhode Island is seeking a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to work under licensed Physical Therapists in outpatient orthopedics settings. You will assist with exercises, gait and balance training, and document patient progress.

Responsibilities include guiding patients through plans of care, using equipment, and educating patients and families. RI license required; travel to multiple sites may be necessary. Strong communication and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an APTA accredited school of physical therapy.
• Valid Rhode Island PTA license.
• Previous experience in outpatient orthopedics/musculoskeletal rehab preferred.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Attention to detail.
• Must be able to travel to all sites if/when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Observe patients before, during and after therapy, noting the patient's status and reporting it to the Physical Therapist.
• Help patients do specific exercises as part of the plan of care.
• Treat patients, using a variety of techniques, such as massage and stretching.
• Use devices and equipment, such as walkers, to help patients.
• Educate patients and family members about what to do after treatment.
• Additional duties as assigned by the Manager to meet department needs.
