Job summary

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED or equivalency.
• Registered PBT/ASCP or registry eligible with proof during application.
• 6 months of phlebotomy experience in a high-volume ambulatory hospital setting (or completed training internship).
• Unregistered Phlebotomist: 7 years of phlebotomy in high-volume setting within past 10 years.

Responsibilities

• Obtains blood samples by venipuncture or capillary draw following departmental guidelines for sample quality.
• Maintains patient safety and comfort at all times.
• Performs patient registration, visit processing, and other clerical duties as necessary.
• Performs specimen processing tasks including accessioning, centrifugation, bar coding, and transport packaging.
