The role requires a bachelor's degree, a valid Washington teaching certificate, and the ability to plan lessons, manage behavior, and adapt to diverse student needs in an urban school setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and experience teaching a culturally, racially and economically diverse student population.
• Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate; some positions may require first aid and CPR certification.
• Possible driver license required for some positions.

Responsibilities

• Fosters an educational environment conducive to learning and maturation; plans instructional programs to meet individual needs.
• Uses appropriate instructional methods; implements curriculum objectives and pursues ongoing professional growth.
• Establishes classroom policies; provides guidance, counseling, and discipline to meet standards.
• Confers with students, parents/guardians, and staff to support achievement and evaluate progress.
• Evaluates and records student progress; prepares parent reports.
• Directs activities of assigned non-certificated personnel; attends required staff meetings.
