Job summary

Allegheny County Bar Association seeks an experienced Paralegal to support attorneys in real estate, litigation, and debt collections. The role requires at least 3 years of relevant experience, file management, coordinating filings, and preparing documents for attorney review in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities include drafting debt-collection communications, coordinating closings, litigations, and maintaining client contact while meeting deadlines and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of paralegal or legal assistant experience, with focus on real estate transactions and debt collection litigation.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies.
• ABA-approved Paralegal Certificate preferred.
• Notary registration preferred but not required.
• General understanding of FDCPA, state debt collection statutes, and real estate closing procedures.
• Experience with LexisNexis, debt collection software, land recording portals, e-filing systems, and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Prepare drafts of communications for debt collections, including letters, agreements, complaints, and judgments; manage high-volume workflows under attorney supervision.
• Assist with residential real estate transactions, including closings and pre-closing procedures and document preparation.
• Prepare pleadings, motions, and discovery; conduct asset/title searches and court filings.
• Serve as a direct point of contact for clients, debtors, and court staff; track deadlines, notices, and court dates.
