ACCEL Schools is seeking a highly qualified P.E. Teacher at Barber Preparatory Academy in Highland Park, Michigan for the 2026-2027 school year. The role focuses on engaging, standards-aligned instruction and creating a positive classroom environment that supports student growth.

The teacher will differentiate lessons, manage behavior, collaborate with families and colleagues, and integrate technology to enhance physical education for PK-8 learners within a dynamic urban charter school network.

Qualifications

• Active Michigan teaching license in appropriate content area.
• Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
• Ability to work in a growth‑focused coaching environment based on frequent observations and progress monitoring.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to pass federal and state background checks.
• Experience working in urban environments.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver lesson plans with the ability to modify accordingly during the school year.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
• Utilize research‑based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom.
• Create a positive classroom environment for students to learn in.
• Utilize school approved curricula that reflects diverse backgrounds.
• Implement school‑wide culture expectations and norms.
• Communicate and meet with families regarding academic and social‑emotional growth of their child.
• Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
