Job summary

Ballard Community School District seeks dedicated coaching staff for Athletics/Activities. The role runs 2-3 hours daily primarily 3:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with occasional nights and weekends during the season.

The candidate should hold an Iowa Coaching Authorization and have experience at youth to high school levels. Responsibilities include training sessions, game prep, player development, team management, and community engagement.

Qualifications

• A current Iowa Department of Education Coaching Authorization is required.
• Experience coaching at the youth, middle school, or high school level is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of the sport and its rules, as well as coaching techniques and strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a coaching team.
• Up to date required trainings for Ballard (or in the process of being completed).

Responsibilities

• Assist with Training: Plan and execute training sessions to improve individual skills and team tactics.
• Game Preparation: Scout opponents, analyze game footage, and help develop game plans.
• Player Development: Provide feedback to players to improve skills and performance.
• Collaborative Leadership: Work with coaching staff in decisions during games and practices.
• Skill Instruction: Teach specific skills to players individually and in groups.
• Player Evaluation: Assess player performance during practices and games.
• Team Management: Assist with scheduling, equipment management, and travel arrangements.
• Player Communication: Maintain open communication with players to address concerns and foster a positive team environment.
• Community Engagement: Represent the team in the community and engage with fans and supporters.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with school, conference, and state rules and standards.
