Job summary

Ballard CSD is seeking a dedicated Middle School Volleyball Coach at Ballard Middle School in Huxley, IA. The role runs with the sport season, typically 2-3 hours daily after school, with some evenings and weekends for games.

Responsibilities include planning trainings, game prep, player development, and team management, while ensuring compliance with school and conference rules. Ideal candidates hold Iowa Coaching Authorization, have youth/middle/high school coaching experience, and demonstrate

Qualifications

• A current Iowa Department of Education Coaching Authorization is required.
• Experience coaching at the youth, middle school, or high school level is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of the sport and its rules, as well as coaching techniques and strategies
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a coaching team
• Up to date required trainings for Ballard (or in the process of being completed)

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute training sessions focused on improving individual skills and team tactics.
• Assist in scouting opponents, analyzing game footage, and developing game plans and strategies.
• Provide feedback and guidance to players to help them improve their skills and performance.
• Collaborate with additional coaching staff in making decisions during games and practices.
• Teach specific skills and techniques to players, both individually and in group settings.
• Assess player performance during practices and games to provide input to the coaching staff.
• Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling, equipment management, and travel arrangements.
• Maintain open communication with players to address concerns, encourage, and foster a positive team environment.
• Represent the team in the community, participating in events and engaging with fans and supporters.
• Ensure compliance with school, conference, and state rules, regulations, and standards of conduct.
